What do you do at Beacon?
I have been here since the beginning of Beacon’s journey to create and implement our people strategy. This covers everything from hiring the best and brightest talent into our ever-growing team to developing processes that ensure we have an inclusive environment that reflects our cultural values and our people.
We have a strong focus on bringing in people with a diverse range of backgrounds – taking a fresh approach to a well established industry requires us to think about things from different perspectives and it is our people that make that happen.
What did you do before Beacon?
Most recently, I had spent 4 years at Uber where I drove hiring for operations teams in EMEA to help Uber launch products in new cities & countries. I had the opportunity to work on some exciting global projects stretching from interviewer best practices, diversity & inclusion initiatives, internal mobility processes and utilisation of data & tools – a fantastic experience where I learned more than I thought possible from some of the most talented people in the tech industry.
Why Beacon?
When I was approached about the opportunity at Beacon, I was so impressed with how much the founders wanted to invest in their people strategy early on. This is highly unusual for any start-up, and the prospect of working for a company that put it’s primary focus on building a sustainable people strategy was one I couldn’t turn down. This is already paying off; the team is genuinely one of the best parts of working at Beacon and I can’t wait to see the team grow over the coming months and years!
What advice do you have for people who want to join Beacon?
Our processes are designed to be efficient and targeted – we are looking for people that will positively contribute to our culture, for diversity of opinion and thought to drive the best business decisions and ensure the best idea wins. When entering into our assessment processes I would recommend being authentic, bring your ideas & creativity to the table and utilise your previous experiences to demonstrate your approach to solving a variety of challenges.
This is the beginning of our story and so whilst we have a limited number of positions available today, we have lots of roles that will become available in the future and so I think it’s important to know that if you don’t see the right role now, we may very well have a relevant opportunity for you down the line – so keep checking in on our careers page to view what is currently available!
