Ocean shipping containers are typically tracked by using a container or Bill of Lading (B/L) number. Freight tracking solutions like Beacon integrate with carriers to fetch the latest tracking milestones using one of these two unique identifiers.
Air freight is most commonly tracked using an air waybill (AWB) number. Air waybills are made up of 11 digits - a 3 digit carrier code followed by 8 digit unique tracking number.
